About Me
I started my higher education at Truckee Meadows Community College and finished my Bachelor’s in Psychology in May 2017, at the University of Nevada, Reno. Currently, I am pursuing my doctorate in the Cognitive Brain Sciences program, under the direction of Dr. Gideon P. Caplovitz. My research focus is in the field of attention, more specifically how humans pay attention to objects. Through my graduate experience, I am grateful to take part in several collaborative projects with other universities across USA: MRI at Dartmouth College and single cell recording at Montana State University, with funding kindly provided by an EPSCoR grant for the Attention Consortium: attentioninthebrain.com/ & multiple scholarships from Nevada Women’s Fund. Aside from my research, I am passionate about Neuroscience outreach at local schools and venues, teaching kids and adults topics such as anatomy, physiology, and perception. In line with my mentorship endeavors, I also serve as a Neuroscience mentor for Frontier’s for Young Minds Journal, which connects local students to an easy-to-read scientific literature and the peer review process. Additionally, with focus in helping students of low socioeconomic background, I am grateful to be a doctoral mentor for PhD program application through Project Short: https://www.project-short.com/ .
